Mother F*cking Snakes On A Plane

Or was that on the yard? I had read that Samuel L. only wanted to do the movie if they kept the title. The original title had the *f* word in it. I think if you are going to go ahead and make a terrible movie, you should at least have a good title.

I was outside watering and mowing the lawn today when I found a number of snakes. Not one, not two, but enough that I was wondering if we now have a colony of snakes taking over the back yard. What exactly do you call a group of snakes? Not a gaggle. Hmm.

Anyway. Photo of the great snake right here. Mother Freaking Snakes In The Yard. I wonder how that film would be?

Pretty

I noticed the other day, that I had some new pretties I should share. First off, a friend of ours has a very talented daughter and she painted a picture for me. She knows I love water and did this painting. Then I was cutting flowers and decided to let them float instead of stand. Don't they spend too much time trying to keep their heads up? Can't they rest? Lastly I got new fabric. Wonderful fabric. I can not wait to use it.

On a different note I've been working on some cartoon characters. I'm a terrible artist. Probably the worst on the planet. So, let's hope that the wit out ways the terrible art work huh? I'll post something once I finish a strip. Tough work though. I get one person okay - but person number two goes to pot and I can't use the strip.

Swell Saturday's

I got up early with Mike and took him down to the airport. He is traveling for a couple of weeks and it will give me a load of time to clean cabinets. I know, I know, how exciting is it to clean out cabinets. But, I do love order.

So, I've cleaned out my spice cabinet. See photo. Oh it feels so good.

I weeded the back yard, finished a pair of socks, started a type of bread (that takes 3 days), and moved a hummingbird feeder (which now has 4 birds fighting to feed).

While finishing the socks, we had one hell of a rain/hail storm. I tried to get a photo of the hail without going outside - but it was raining and melting quickly.

Thing People Say

I don't understand why people say certain things. For example. When I was in college I was going to go out late one night - for coffee with friends. And my roommate said, "Have fun getting rapped." It made me scared and upset. Well, when I decided to try soccer a number of people said, "Have fun breaking your ankle." Or something along those lines. And again, I was scared and upset. I of course got over it - went out - and had a great time (by the way ... playing tonight). Why do people say that type of thing though??

On a different note. I've seen a number of interesting sites lately. If you are into old school video games you have to check out people space invaders.

Or for the the cat lover in you .

Weekend Update

Mike and I spent the weekend down South at his parent's house. It was a relaxing weekend of eating, drinking and swimming in the pool. While we were down there we happened to find the scooter of our dreams. It gets great gas mileage and has the cool retro look that I wanted.

I also found that my garden has been kicking while we were gone. There was rain every day, and just enough sun to keep everything happy.

Fourth of July

I made a loaf of bread today. It came out WONDERFUL - and can be modified for other types.

1 teaspoon sugar
2 1/4 teaspoons dry yeast
1 1/4 cup warm water
3 cups flour
1 1/4 teaspoon salt
4 tablespoons rosemary
1 egg, lightly beaten

1. Dissolve sugar and yeast in 1/4 cup of water (stand 5 minutes)
2. Mix rest of ingredients and turn or knead for 5 minutes, until smooth
3. Place in covered bowl coated in cooking spray or oil in a warm place for 45 minutes (until doubled in size).
4. Punch dough down, cover let rise for 30 minutes
5. Punch dough down, cover let rise for 10 minutes
6. Roll into 8x4 in loaf pan (pinching edges and getting all air pockets out). Cover let rise for 30 minutes
7. Preheat oven to 425.
8. Uncover dough. Gently brush with egg. Bake at 425 for 12 minutes. Then reduce temperature to 350 and bake for 15 minutes. Cool - serve.

You'll love it.

Noises In The Night

I love lightning and thunder. I love the sound of rain on the roof. It has rained pretty much every night for the past 4 days, and it has been lovely. In particular, I love it when there is a flash of light, which wakes you up. And then the rumble or snap right on top the house. Makes you think the lighting must be right on top of you. I can't remember there ever being electrical storms in Alaska. Nope. Never. An engine fell out of an airplane and landed in my friends living room, but never any lightning and thunder. I absolutely love it.

I'm sitting out back, in the dark and thinking about getting a photo of the storm. Is it possible to catch lightning? I've been trying. But, it seems like by the time I see it -- it is already too late.

One one thousand - SNAP.

Math Question

Today's question.

7 large watermelons were purchased for a party. Their weights were consecutive odd numbers, and averaged 37 lbs. What was the weight of the heaviest watermelon?

** There are two solutions **

Good luck Ed. :)

Saturdays

I love weekends. Not because I can sleep in, and not because I don't have to go to work. I love Saturdays because I can do anything I want. I sort of feel free on Saturdays.

So, you may wonder, what does she do then?

#1 - decided I want red hair (do you think I look Irish now?)
#2 - Got the coolest math book on the planet and have been forcing everyone on in the house to do puzzles. Yesterday's puzzle: 3,9,7,13,11,__,15,21,19,25 [Bring out your inner geek and solve it]
#3 - cleaned out our gear closet and my clothing closet (as you can see Moab approves)
