Butt Hair

When can you ever put that as the subject to a blog post? Well - when your kitty needs to have it shaved. Here are some action shots of poor Moab having her buns shaved.

Rocks, Sun and Catnip

Court, Dirty D and I went out climbing today. It was really nice, the wind blowing and the rock wasn't too hot.

The kitties of course could care less about rocks ... catnip seems to be the taste of summer for them!

First Harvest

Around 15 radishes were in the first batch to be pulled from the garden. Is this a sign of a healthy year for veggies? I may have had more last year this time - I think the cool start to summer is causing stuff to get a later start.

Ouch Kitty - Ouch

Well we decided to take Bend back to the vet today. He is still having issues and we found out that he has crystals a bladder infection still and possibly a kidney stone. He has to go in for a ultrasound to figure out exactly what is wrong with him. When we got home we decided to bath Methow and Moab (mostly they needed a bath ... but also it makes Bend feel really good to watch them wet in the sink).

At the vet Bend was really sad and spent most of the time inside my bag. He cried a lot, got poked a lot, and had an x-ray. Poor guy is having a bad weekend already.

Cleaning Weekend.

During a busy weekend of yard work and BBQing I flipped out and did a bit of indoor cleaning (with Courtney's help of course). The room in question was the den. Dusting from the wood burning stove, cleaning up the plants (whipping them down so they can breath better), watering, cleaning the tile, vacuuming and washing the curtains. It was a huge pain in the butt. But, well worth it. I'm now very very happy with how clean it is.

Love School Kids

While out on my morning run and across from the elementary school near my house I found this note:

The cut, the handwriting, the message - has first or second grader written all over it. I had to pick it up and bring it home. Ah the good old days when you could command farts from your classmates!

Thursday Evenings

Tonight was a very good night. I got a bit of work done around the house, went for a nice long (well for me) run with DD and made some banana bread. Methow is missing her dad a lot and really wanted her photo taken tonight. Can you say ham?

When Running Makes A ...

After going for a run today I got my Nike window open and I saw something I've never seen outside of the computer programming world. A NaN (not a number). Is it possible that I ran a NaN's worth?? How far would that be??

Rainy Weekend.

The rain just keeps falling and so we are inside. I've been trying to get through a bit of spinning but Bend seems to really want to help out.

Tonight is UFC 98 (which we are going to walk with Bracken and crew). After his fight a month ago we are interested to see how ramped up he is!

Aw - Kitties ...

I got back from Livermore California on Wednesday night (late - to late). I was very tired on Thursday and didn't get a ton done. I then slept in until 9am this morning (which if you know me is really really late!).

The cats seem to be out of sorts as well. Looking for snuggles and missing me terribly. I think travel is a very hard thing for them to deal with (Mike or I being gone). The photo of Moab is her under the covers sitting on my lap.

Trips.

Mike got back from the Far East a while back and we just got back from Idaho last week. Here are a few photos from the trips.

NOTE (5/15/09) - I ended up wearing 2 different tops from Dana and a jacket. I guess she has mad awesome clothing taste :)

Warm Spring Days

It has been heating up very quickly here. The mint and garden are hopin'. I feel there aren't enough hours in the day for everything I want to do - but I guess that is life in a gardeners life.
The cooler weather veggies are up and growing strong. Radishes in this photo.

We spent part of Sunday putting up shades in the den. The overall temperature in that room is 20 degrees. I can't believe what a difference it makes.

How Many?

Photos of Bend on my lap in the RV can one publish?? Well - yet another weekend in the RV and yet another weekend of him harassing the crap out of me while we drive. All I did was basically cuddle him like a little baby.

Mike kicked butt at the track this weekend. Winning a race he has never won before (will a fantastic pass on the last lap) and taking points in a number of other races. It was a lovely weekend!

Don't Drink That!

Mike brought back from Adder Whiskey from DPRK - mostly to look at and be creeped out by. Ray this past weekend decided to taste it. He says it is pretty good - I'm still not buying it. A floating snake is just yucky!

On other news Dana, Erin, Diana and I did the Los Alamos Duathalon. Our first run was ~30 minutes. I think the bike was 35 or 40 minutes. And the last run was around 30 minutes as well. Our total time was 1 hour and 43 minutes. It wasn't the best time but fantastic for having not trained at all.

The Truth Is Out There

Are we alone in the universe? I always love it when articles like this come out. Makes me feel like all the sci-fi I watch could be true.

Ouch - Yard Work.

After spending Saturday climbing and biking - I wasn't really in shape for yard work. But, that didn't matter, yard work was on the menu. I re-tilled the grass (only the section I intend to remove) and Mike helped me dig out a path (that we'll fill with stones). I can't wait to get the garden in order, but I think that final product will be a couple weeks away.

The Christmas cactis is now in full bloom and the girls are enjoying the spring warmth (and can't seem to take each other away from the other).

Spring - Part 2?

During the snow showers last night there were a couple other fantastic shots to be had. I couldn't resist posting them. It appears as if the storm is over and spring may have returned for the rest of the weekend.

Christmas Time ....

While watering the plants in the den I noticed that the Christmas cactus is blooming AGAIN. It bloomed in November (in preparation for Christmas) - and it is blooming again now. Christmas while the tulips are opening? Not sure on that.

Driving home yesterday I was listening to an article on Baby Boomers and Gen Xers with respect to medical care. It made me ask a question, "Is it better to enjoy life now and pay the price for that enjoyment in older age?" Possible methods that people enjoy life to its fullest now - and will pay later; running, drinking, smoking, over eating ..... The answer ???

The Flower Fever!

I noticed that the tulips are up and opening wide. I love when the flowers grace the ground with their colors!

Mike's thoughts on spring flower fever:

Panic Day!

April 8th is the day. You haven't even started searching for receipts, much less started preparing your taxes. What do you do? Don't panic - procrastinate and throw a PANIC PARTY! Invite everyone over at the last minute. Run around like a frenzied maniac serving burned hors d'oeuvres (to trigger the smoke detector), shots of espresso, and Red Bull. Generally try to make everyone more nervous than usual. Party favor? Nicotine patches for everyone!

PANIC PANIC PANIC. Screw what Hitchhikers Guide says!

Motorcycle Weekend.

Mike and I went down to Deming for the first race of the 2009 road racing season. It was an interesting trip. First, Mike got the body work painted over break and this was the first time riding on it. Second, he had new leathers that matched. Third, he re-did the trailer. Four, it was the first time the cats had been in the RV since last year.

What does all of this equal??

= all cats vomiting on the drive down, Mike crashed on Friday messing up the new leathers and paint job, the re-worked trailer bugged the crap out of Mike and now needs to be re-done again.

Ah .... race season off to a good start.

Mike's Return.

Mike got home yesterday afternoon. His flight was actually on time for once, which was really nice. We are hanging low today - resting around the house. Here are two gifts he brought me back from China. The jacket is the warmest thing I have ever put on. We looked it up online and are amazed at how much it normally costs. I know it appears as if my face isn't there - but I can see perfectly fine!
